Bing for iPad Launches

One thing that always makes me happy, is when I see competitors embrace each others products. Maybe not wholeheartedly with arms wide-open and outstretched…mostly more like, with teeth grinding and head shaking. But even so, it always makes things better in the end, because competition, not matter how it comes about, is always a win for the consumer.

Such is the case with Microsoft and Apple. However, the saying, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, or something like that, really applies here. See, Microsoft battles with Apple, but they also battle with Google. Since Google and Microsoft battle in the realm of “search”, Microsoft and Apple can therefore be friends on this topic and play nicely.

Hence, the release of Microsoft’s Bing App for iPad.

For many people Google’s search is the end all be all, but some have started to really hate what they stand for and how they run things, and thus have turned to alternatives, such as Bing. The Bing app is a little more than a search engine though. It’s very visual and lends itself perfectly to the touchscreen of the iPad device (even though a few of the gestures could use some tweaking). Quickly, easily, effortlessly search and browse news, movies, weather, or whatever you’re in the mood for. There aren’t buttons clouding up the screen, it’s not stagnant and boring as it allows for custom designs and information, and helps people stay up to date with the latest news and topics that are currently trending in the world around them…all from one app.

Now I’m not one to give Microsoft props very often, and actually usually take any chance I can get to bash them, but I have to admit, the Bing app is pretty nice (especially for a first version) and a good addition to those looking to switch things up.
