Did the price of the “iPad 2 Gold History Edition,” featuring 70 ounces of 24-carat gold and 12.5 carats of diamonds crammed into the Apple logo on the rear of iPad 2 turn you off? At $8 million no doubt the vast majority of you, including yours truly, found the price a bit too steep. Thankfully there’s a cheaper, less gaudy, option for an iPad owner craving opulence.
Since the Apple iPad 2 announcement more companies are beginning to add their own sense of flair to the device. If you seek one of the more flashy iPad 2 versions on the planet, Harrods in London now offers the extremely exclusive CrystalRoc model, an iPad 2 that is fully covered in Swarovski crystals.
The price? $5,669.98 USD (£4,000).
The CrystalRoc model, with its extravagant outer cover, has 64GB of memory and is both 3G and WiFi capable. Consumers have two models to choose from, a white on white model (a white iPad 2 with white crystals), or a black on black model (a black iPad 2 with black crystals).
$5,700 for an iPad 2? While certainly a nice iPad 2, this version of Apple’s magical tablet device is still a pricey option. For the same $5,700 one can purchase almost 7 iPad 2 64GB 3G+WiFi models. I’ll take 7 iPad 2s over one covered in crystals, but hey that’s just me.
